Toronto, ON, Canada. September 12, 2006. Latin American Minerals Inc. (LAT:TSX-V)
is pleased to announce that Mr. David G. Wahl, P.Eng. P.Geo., of Mount Albert,
Ontario, has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer and President. Mr. Wahl brings
over 35 years of national and international mineral industry experience and leadership
from his background as a partner in several well recognized Canadian consulting firms
and as technical advisor to regulatory, financial and industry groups.
Mr. Wahl is a 1968 graduate of the Colorado School of Mines and a Professional Mining
Engineer. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario, and a member of
the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario. Since 1995, he has been
President of Southampton Associates Inc., a consulting firm which specializes in
providing corporate consulting services to companies in the mineral and exploration
sector. Mr. Wahl has served as an independent director and "qualified person" to a
number of publicly listed companies. He is also a director of the Canadian Association
of Mineral Valuators.
Over his career, Mr. Wahl gained experience in Latin America successfully completing
numerous assignments in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and El Salvador; furthermore,
he has earned the respect of mining analysts and financial institutions.
As a past director to the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, Mr. Wahl
served on the Securities Committee, which provided independent review of the Mining
Standard Task Force Report for the Ontario Securities Commission and the Toronto
Stock Exchange.
In addition, Alberto Orcoyen, currently a director of the Company, has been appointed
Chairman of the Board of Directors.
